Structural Design
We’re ready to provide you with the engineering solutions to make your next construction project a reality. We work one-on-one with homeowners, architects, and contractors to provide design detailing for new or existing structural components in compliance with the Ontario Building Code and applicable Canadian design standards.
New Construction
We can provide design solutions for all structural aspects of a new build, from foundations to framing. We can work with your existing architect or designer to help you get the house of your dreams.
Let us help you directly to produce permit-ready drawings for those smaller projects, such as a new detached garage or a wood deck. We can provide details for wood framing, concrete slabs and footings.
Renovations and Additions
Planning to renovate your existing house to create the open concept kitchen you’ve always wanted? We can help by designing new beams or strengthen existing joists if a load-bearing wall just has to go.
How about turning that mouldy basement into a money-making rental unit or an in-law suite? If your basement ceiling is too low, then we can help by providing foundation underpinning or benching details so you can lower the basement floor.

On-Site Review
We can come to your home to review any existing structural-related issues that you might have. Or we can meet you at the job site to facilitate the planning of your new-build.
Expert Assessments
Are your floors sagging? Is your foundation cracking? Let us examine any structural related problems you may be experiencing. We can perform an on-site investigation to review existing conditions, determine potential causes, and recommend solutions for repair or rehabilitation.
Site Inspections
We provide general conformance reviews during construction related to the structural components of our design work. This on-site inspection is undertaken to satisfy building permit requirements and ensure your peace of mind.

Design Review
We can review designs produced by a licensed architect or qualified designer (BCIN) and provide any supplementary structural detailing needed to satisfy building permit requirements. In most cases, depending on the complexity of a design, hiring a structural engineer is essential to ensure specific elements such as footings, walls, beams, and columns have sufficient load carrying capacity and stiffness.
Structural Markups
Your architect or designer will provide us with the relevant CAD drawings, usually once the architectural design aspects are completed. We will review the drawings, ensure selected structural components are in conformance with the Ontario Building Code, and analyze and design any outstanding structural components. We then “mark-up” or “red-line” the architect’s drawings with any revisions and our additional structural details.
Consultation
Not sure if a design is structurally practical? Got questions related to design, construction or permitting? Bring us into the design process early. We can review, assist and provide the recommendations needed to get you on the right track.
